Is there an opportunity to transfer between departments in your university?

Students are allowed to transfer from their programs to other departments/programs that are at the same level of their own departments within the framework of principles set by “The Regulation of Transfer between Programs of Associate Degree and Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education concerning the Transfer of Credit with Double Major, Minor ” and University Senate.

What are the double major and minor programs? Can students pursue double major and minor in your university?

If the students studying in an undergraduate program meet the requirements and are accepted,
• They can pursue “Double Major Program” within the same faculty or in another faculty for a second undergraduate degree,
• They can pursue “Minor Program” to have knowledge in a certain field in another department or faculty.

Click for further information on Double-Major
Click for further information on Minor

Are students given the opportunity for internship?

Students have to complete minimum two semesters in their departments in order to start Integrated Education. Undergraduate students are required to do 2 integrated education (internship) periods, one between 4th and 5th semester and the other one between 6th and 7th semesters. The period of Integrated Education which is necessary for graduation is 40 workdays in total. Students are required to complete the integrated education practices successfully in order to graduate.

Click for the detailed information about integrated education (internship).

Is there a summer school?

Duration of summer school
Summer school is optional and consists of seven weeks excluding exams. Total hours of each course available in summer school are equal to the total course hours in the semester. The course lasts for 25 or 30 hours a week according to the language proficiency level of students in English Preparatory Program. Academic Calendar can be found on our website.

Summer school fees
Summer school fees for each year are determined by the Board of Trustees upon the suggestion of University Administrative Committee and announced on the website.

The students studying in scholarship programs of our university and those entitled to get scholarship/discount apart from “University Admission Scholarship” within the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association Scholarship Directive are required to pay the full fee for the courses they will be registered in summer school.

Specifying and Offering the Course
Associate, undergraduate and graduate courses that will be offered in summer school are determined by the Senate upon the proposal of the relevant faculty/institute/vocational school and announced by the Registrar’s Office within two days at the latest after the announcement of spring term exam results on electronic environment.

Summer school courses aren’t offered in a way to completely substitute for fall and spring term education. Compulsory courses in associate, undergraduate and graduate programs should be offered in related terms and shouldn’t be postponed to summer school.

The number of students required for courses of summer school program to be offered is minimum fifteen in associate and undergraduate programs, minimum three in graduate programs. However, some of the courses announced to be offered with the justified proposal of the relevant Executive Board and decision of University Administrative Committee can be offered with minimum seven students in associate and undergraduate programs and with two students in graduate programs.

Taking courses and withdrawal from courses
Registration dates for summer school are completed within the dates specified by the Senate. A student can take courses in a way not to exceed total credit of 21 in summer school.

Students can take the courses in summer school that they didn’t take, failed or had a low score in previous terms or the courses of next semester. The last grade taken from courses is valid.
Add/drop and late registration is not applied in summer school. Only withdrawal from the course is applied in summer school. When it becomes certain to offer a course in summer school, summer school fee paid by the students for the courses isn’t paid back.

Attendance
Attendance to courses is compulsory. Even if the attendance requirement has been met before, this doesn’t remove compulsory attendance criterion. Students are obliged to participate in 70% of theoretical courses and 80% of practical courses. Students who fail to meet the attendance criteria take NA grade from that course and they are considered as failed.

Students of Flight Training Department in Air Transportation Faculty are obliged to participate in 100% of theoretical and practical flight training courses. The students who do not fulfill the attendance requirement for the relevant courses even with cogent grounds and just causes as specified by the Senate and/or those who fail to be successful in practices can’t take the final exam of that course.

The conditions in the first paragraph are effective concerning the attendance requirement for the courses apart from theoretical and practical flight training courses.

Are there any conditions like medical report in order to study in Flight Training Program? If required, what are the conditions that prospective students who prefer Flight Training Department should meet?

Flight Training program is held in Flight Training Department of Ankara Faculty of Air Transportation and the students registered to this program study in Ankara Etimesgut Turkkusu Campus.
